Saturday, 12/04/04- Hit the water early. Looking for live shad in Las Vegas Wash before light. Continued our search for over an hour. Nothing. Observed several boats doing the same. Someone may be netting live shad some where on Lake Mead, or maybe later in the day, but it was not us. Time to go to plan "B", break out the frozen shad. Three drifts later, we had three nice stripers in the ice chest. All around three pounds each. Not very steady action, but better than being skunked. I hope the party is'nt over this year with live shad. The water temp. is under sixty degrees, so it may be.
Spent Sunday morning getting the Baysport outfitted for trolling. We noticed several anglers using this method, near Pumphouse Cove and Saddle Island. I can't wait until this weekend when we give it a shot.

[black]You need to check out powellstripers.com and the JP rig for trolling stripers. It supposed to be killer for late season striper action. I've got some friends headed for Powell during the Xmas holidays and that's what they plan on using. Check out Benedict Arnold, the striper. The animation shows how to rig it for trolling and how it's action is supposed to be when trolled. It takes a little while to load but well worth. I'm sure the Powell techniques will do good on Mead too.[/black]

Speaking of trolling, do you have the kicker bracket built yet? I have a killer idea for a design if you haven't done it yet. It's time to get that new 15 hp Mercury in the water. You'll love it. I like mine.

[black]Also, I now have a cannon ball sinker mold for 1,2,3, &4 ounce sinkers. Perfect for the JP trolling rig and also drifting for those SF Bay 'buts and stripers.[/black]

I have not designed a bracket yet. More than happy to have your input. The design must able to work with the 15hp engine or an electric trolling motor. I only want the weight of the kicker engine on the back of the boat when trolling or going off the coast. Remember when your kicker brought you back on San Francisco Bay? Anyway, I'll check out those websites, and I'll give you a call this weekend. Too bad your not going to the Bay Area for Christmas this year. We'll just have to go fishing without you.

[black]Your kicker bracket will be a breeze. I'll CAD out a prototype solid model in ProE for you to see the basic design. I can export to a tiff so you'll see it with a standard graphics viewer. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]The solid I create will be easily modified to the required dimensions. Once we come up with the exact design you want, I'll draft a drawing that you can take it to any fabrication shop or I'll talk to Jason about fabrication. [/black]
We'll come up with a low profile, custom design that will compliment the Baysport and not look like a hillbilly rig. You'll be happy with it, I'm sure.
