Who makes Cabela's rod blanks?
#1
Does anyone know who makes the rod blanks for Cabela's Fish Eagle II and Fish Eagle XML casting rods?

I've used the Fish Eagle II rods for several years and have really liked them. Anyone have experience with the XML series?

Thanks.

Thanks Pat-

That's helpful. Do you know of any website that does a good job of explaining rod actions and descriptions of the differences between rods - such as the difference between a flippin' action compared to a crankbait action vs. a jigging action vs. a topwater action vs.a wormin' rod? That sort of thing. I tried to explain this to a friend yesterday, but I'm not sure I was very articulate.

Thanks!

A friend of mine asked a guy "in the know" about who makes their fly rods. My friend suspected a close likeness to G Loomis and the guy wouldn't say for sure but gave a give-away Smile at the accusation.

That may or may not be completely accurate but whatever I know several high-end anglers who like Cabela's rods.

After doing several tackle tests I have received merchandise from different manufactures and noted the letter/number coding that they use on their rods.

The XML is a blank that Shimano uses for some of their rods.

The IM6 and IM7 are actually blanks manufactured by Daiwa.

I hope this helps you.[cool]

TD,

That picture makes me all tingly inside. I can only aspire to amass a collection so enviable. (nice mounts on the wall above too!)

They used to be made by Loomis - made by, not a Loomis blank. I have read from some people in the know that Loomis no longer mfg these and they are probably made by Diamondback, I think Cabela's will only confirm they are made in the USA. Regardless of who makes them, it still isnt another companies blank - Cabela's spec and design.
