Well I can sum this trip up with one word, WIND! We fished at the first and second warmsprings, I think, I am not real familiar with the area. We fished from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. I had a couple bites, and I had one fish on but I don't no what it was, It felt like a Walleye but who knows. I did catch a carp, about 4-5 pounds.
I was using curly tail jigs, I had to use a big jig head to cast, all my hits were on a chartreuse jig head (1/4 oz) and a yellow and orange curly tail. Just couldn't take the wind, I wanted to wade out into the lake but the whitecaps were to big![unsure]

If the wind is not blowing I may try to go down tomorrow again but I don't now if I'll be able to make it. I'm like you, I need a walleye for dinner, not a carp![crazy]

[cool]Thanks for the reports, fellas. I can't wait to get out there on Saturday. Hey ocean, did that guy with the big channel cat catch him on bait, or while chucking jigs for 'eyes?

Hey fishnbake,
I haven't been by lately, but the last I heard of Starvation just last week, it was still pretty much iced over. Unless there has been more wind and sun over there than 25 miles to the East, it will still be pretty much covered. I tried Bullock yesterday just to see, and the only open water is where the inlet is for about 50 yds around. Even the watering pond just up from my house is still half covered.
Just wanted to let you know. You might want to throw the ice gear in the boat just in case. As soon as I get the lower unit repair done on my boat, I'll be watching it very closely. I'll let everyone know as soon as I know it is open from the main State ramp over towards Knight Hollow. A co-worker lives just above Rabbit Gultch and I check with her every week on the lake conditions.

I called the state park at Starvation and they said the only open water was from the boat ramp to Indian bay and that the water wasn't even open all the way across the lake! Maybe another couple weeks, especially if it gets cold next week like it's supposed to.[mad]
