TD - Have you ever heard of Elvin Bishop ? If catfish did like music - it wouldn't be this one - It's my favorite fishing song - I listen to it(and sing along) all the time before, during and after fishing.
ELVIN BISHOP - 1974 Capricorn records - Sorry, Elvin for ruining your song with my voice and the accompanyment of my hound chorus.
[Intro - a little bluegrass/jugband fiddle - a washtub, guitar and a soon to be empty enough jug to be in tune.
(with a gravely bass/baritone voice, and an Ozark mountain drawl) it goes something like this ... ]
Boy, it sure is a nice day t'day.
I b'lieve I'll go back to the garden
dig me up some worms
n' go fishin.
Got this nice spot picked out
down there on the creek
Boy them perch r biting like crazy - Yes sir !
[Now sing it boys - in three part harmony and slightly off key - bass,bass,bass/baritone - a one and a two and a ...]
I'm goin fish fish - fish fish - fish fish, a-fish'n
I'm goin fishing - hook sinker n' line.
I say - fish fish - fish fish - fish fish, a-fish'n
Boy I'm goin fish'n
Jest to ease my mind.
You know, A lot folks say fish'n on sunday's a sin,
If a fish bites my line on a sunday,
I'm gonna reel'em on in !
I believe I'll take'em on home
Fry'em up good and have a ball
Cause I don't see nuthin wrong with a-fish'n on sunday at all.
I take my pole and JUG - down to the river,
I'm gonna set up on the bank.
every time the fish start to nibble -
I'M GONNA TAKE ME ANOTHER DRANK !
Yea ! Im goinin fish fish, fish fish, fish fish - a fish'n
I'm goin fish'n jest to ease my mind ............ repeat - ad infinitum.
P.S. Hey Frank - Who knows, if it works out ... I might just make it down there for a little O-DARK-30 fishing. I haven't done that for a spell - sounds like it could be fun. Remember bug juice is your friend.

Maybe the county song that says, "You and me goin' fishin in the dark...", I think it might be by George Strait.
I'm gonna see what I can do to swing it so I can make it there too.

It works well for chasing off the encroaching anglers as well - But usually I don't need to resort to those drastic measures - the hounds do that quite well with out me getting involved. There's nothing like a slober shower to inspire all those "friendly folks" that need to get close up and have company to go away and get some quality time alone on thier own. Now if I could only find a way to get the hounds on my tube, toon, or tintub - I could have some fine fishing holes to my self.

Ooooooo I know that one.... Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.... Thats who sings that Fishing in the Dark song..... K, so I just identified myself as squarely in the middle of the good ol boy population but I love that song...... George is good but he don't sing no fishin songs. [sly] Hank Williams Jrs "A Country Boy can Survive" is a good catfishing song too.... That sounds like fun and if I wasn't taking the daughter up to cool off at Mirror Lake,.... oh, you know what?? I wont have her that weekend.... Hmmmm I may just have to make my first BFT get together appearance..... this could be very good...... I'm only coming if Leaky shows up..... [ ] Just kidding Leak, I know thats a long haul for you.....

Been thinking it over, LB is rocky & buggy and usually pretty busy, I might see you all there but I just might stake out a camping spot over below Pelican Point instead. The beach is not as rocky, and everytime I've been there, there wern't near as many bugs. And then a lot of the time there is nobody around to bug you when you're fishing! We got buzzed a couple times by some jet skiers, but for most of the time they gave us a wide berth. I've been there twice this year and both times we had the water to ourselves. The only people there were camping and 4 wheeling. You could drive right to the beach. I haven't been there since the heavy run-off and rain back in April.
