Flaming Gorge Recreational Use Pass Question
#1
Last week at the Lucerne Marina - at the counter was a sign saying something about a $20 yearly pass that will start at the beginning of 2006.

I didn't ask about the pass but was wondering if this is the same type of pass that Lake Powell has?

Any information about the "New" Flaming Gorge pass would be appreciated.

The annual pass that is $20.00 is good for one year from the time you purchased it. for example my parking pass expires in october so my new one will be good from november 05-november 2006. It is the best way to go if you go up there alot.

The user fee pass program at the gorge is nothing new,it started back in 1995(i think). There was a article in the local weekend paper about this program. One thing it stated was according to the U.S.F.S. officals that there would be no new fee increases thru 2006.Personally it's a good deal for those of us that use the gorge alot,20.00 a year to launch as many times as i want to.The user fee pass come's in three different type,a one day ,16 day ,or the yearly pass.To my knowlege the U.S.F.S. has tired twice to raise the amount for the passe's,and both times the public has said no in a loud clear voice.IMO i think that a raise in the fee for the pass will happen sometime in the near future, and i dont think it will matter how much the public objects to it.

Right now the pass is good for 12 months from the date of purchase. I bought one earlier this month that is now good until end of August of 2006. But I understand that beginning 1-1-06 the pass will be on a calendar year basis. So, if you buy your pass in August of 2006 it's only good until the end of December 2006. That's what they told us at Lucerne anyway.
