I wanted to go to the berry this weekend but my brother was talking about going to Bear Lake. Has anyone been up there lately? and is the mack bite still good? Or should I stick to the berry? any help would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Fishing bear lake can be tough right now. There are a hand full of guys on this site that could go up there and have a good day catching fish. The "Average Joe" will have a tough time and might get two or three strikes and you might not evern hook up with any of them.
At the berry you will do alot more catching than you would at bear lake. I desided to take a break frome bear lake and hit the berry.

Weatherman says it will be decent on Bear Lake Saturday morning but rainy and windy in the afternoon.
The Hi today was 55 .... 10 day forcast says it will slowly keep dropping to 46 Hi on the 5th. Water temps should be where the Mack like it by the end of the spawn. Hopefully....
I dropped by the lake this afternoon for a couple hours. I threw out a #9 Vampire Rap and headed down lake at 2.5 to 3.0 MPH thinking I might pick up a Cut or two. I had a couple of good solid hits, but the fish didn't stick (or get stuck). Then I had one on .... I reeled him on in and just had to measure him! Oh man, just as I thought. A new personal record. The smallest Mack I have caught to date. Sixteen incher!

[black]I'll be up there today. If the W will cooperate, the rain should not be the problem. I hope its not one of those "drive there to turn around and come home" trips.[/black]

Good luck there today BLM. I'm thinking the same for tommorrow. I hope the W stays away. I can deal with the rain all day and fish. Just have to see what happens. Our trip out starts at 1:00 pm.

[black]The weather had its ups and downs that made boat control an issue but I did manage to get three macks off the rockpile today. They were between 9 & 13 lbs. We had times of good flat water then it would rain and blow then lay down again. Still a fun trip. Petty managed to leave half his tackle box snagged to the bottom but he's starting to get the hang of it. He also managed to break his favorite rod. OUCH![/black]

[black]I had a cutthroat follow my jig all the way to the surface, attacking it the whole way up to within 3-4 feet of the surface. I played with him for a while, pulling my jig away from him when he tried to take it. I even pulled the jig out of the water, dropped it back in and he tried to take it again! Crazy fish! He finally got tired of playing and headed for the bottom.[/black]

[black]Nope, no pictures this time. I had the camera but didn't break it out in the weather. Sorry, I'll do better next time. You've seen a few of those macks, use your imagination.[/black]
