#1
[cool][#0000ff]Perch are in the news...literally. There is an article by Kathy Stephenson in this morning's Tribune about cookin' and eatin' them tasty little rascals. [url "http://www.sltrib.com/food/ci_3412204"]LINK TO ARTICLE[/url][/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Too bad she had to go and mess it all up by including my name and some quotes.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Brett Prettyman is going to have an article in tomorrow's Outdoors section on how to catch them.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Trout are tender and need managing.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Perch are unmanageable. They are either there or they're not, and they populate like crazy when conditions are right...and die off when they're not.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Anglers have far less effect on the perch populations than other "natural" factors, like food supply, spawning habitat and predation from other species. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There is no way DWR can anticipate yearly fluctuations in perch numbers, or do anything to change the course of nature.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The best we can do is enjoy the heck out of them when they are plentiful and wait for them to come back when they crash.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Hey, I can't hep it if folks keeps pickin' on me. I's a BIG target.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I went to the doc about my leg. His diagnosis was that I am just getting old. I told him I didn't buy that. My right leg is just as old as my left. (Ba dum dum)[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Seriously, leg is much improved. Hitting Mantua Friday, then heading for a quick trip down to Arizona. Will be back midweek next week and maybe we can plan something.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Just about time to chase some wallies on the big brown pond.[/#0000ff]

Let me know when you get back and we will make a plan of attack. I think I am going to go after those perchies at rockperch sat morn. You know they had a BIG die off there but I seem to still land them.

[cool]Very nice, Pat! I'm going to have to try out a couple of those recipes that I haven't yet.

Good luck in Arizona and at Mantua this Saturday. I'll be w/Bass Ackward slaying our limits of perch again this week at the Rock. Man I love my new fishfinder (Eagle Fishmark 320)!!!

Like Mike (no pun intended), I look forward to assulting the toothy and whiskery fishies with you soon on the "big brown pond."

I was up at FL when Kathy was there. She took some pictures of my little girl fishin' and playin'. She said our pic would be in the paper (fingers crossed, already told my daughter we were going to be [angelic]) Now I know who you are Tubedude. Better go tubin' in AZ to get that leg feeling better!

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Geoff, I just got a new Fishmark 320 also. I did a report on setting it up for both tubing and ice fishing. [#0000ff]Kathy mentioned talking with you guys. Glad you got to meet up. Sorry I could not get down there. My wife and I were still battling bad colds. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The colds are better and so is the leg. I've been practicing kicking field goals with PETA members. Still can't get all the distance I want, but it's all good.[/#0000ff]
