Bountiful Cats
#1
It sounds like they have began stocking some of the local ponds with kitties and I was just wondering if bountiful has been visited by the truck this year? Never been out for cats, maybe one night this week. It's a shot in the dark but hay, better than not taking a shot at all.

If you are going to night fish a local pond, make sure of the city ordinances. Some like clinton pond close at 10 pm and others close at dusk. I had the clinton police watching me every night to make sure we left right at 10. I hope they have started stocking them because my little "pod" of wiskerfish in Maybe pond is getting very small.

When you go after the kitties, take some uncooked shrimp.
Another good choice is worm and lil smokys franks quartered, and both on a size 2 hook together. Use a sliding sinker so there is no resistance when the fish bite.

Fished Bountiful Pond this morning with my wife. It was really slow for us and everyone else that I saw fishing. My wife caught a 15 inch cat and I got skunked. Perhaps if we would have gotten there before 7:45 AM the fishing might have been a little better.

[green]what part of the pond did you fish? and what did you use for bait? I usually fish from the last pier and have learned to use a lot of different baits.Shrimp bough with the head still on,minnows, and sometimes stinly dough bait . Next time you go let me know i would like to go with if you dont mind.[/green]

We fished around the island, and out from the last pier. We also tried trolling around for awhile. We used minnows, shrimp, and crawlers. A single angler and later an entire family fished from the last pier, but I didn't see them catch anything. I'll probably try it a few times in the evening likely from my boat, if that works for you.

Can you have motors on Bountiful? That would be perfect for an electric and my 12' boat.

The signs out there say no motorized boats . I have only seen paddle boats out there . I only use oars. it is not that hard to get around this pond with oars and flippers. The pond is usualy free of any kind of boats. So making it easy to get around. I would like to go out as soon as our car gets back from having a tranny put in it. But i can get out there in the morning with the help of my father-in-law. If any of you kitty chaser's would like to meet up out there send me a p.m. and we can arrange it . Knock on wood but last 2 trips have been great. I have the bait if anyone is in need of bait.

I fished bountiful Satuday for two hours in the evening with both shimp and nightcrawlers. I fished both below a bobber and on the bottom with an egg sinker without success. I'd really like to catch some cats down there, I'm mainly a trout man and have never caught a catfish. I'll probably be able to go out again this weekend. any tips would be great. I fished the south side on both sides of the second dock. Thanks for the help.

I always do pretty well there....i'd say 90% of the time i catch something. I have fished it quite regularly (3-4 times per week) over the past few years. If anyone wants to go down there with me, shoot me a PM! I know a GREAT spot.......
