Hey there guys,
For years I've used Ande Pink. I'm tired of the amount of stretch in 95% of standard monofiliments. As an experiment, I have just put Fireline, Spiderline Fusion and Ironsilk on my under-20lb test setups for local saltwater/cattleboat fishing.
Question #1: What is the best fluorocarbon line I can use as a shock leader/leader when fishing a J hook.
Question #2: Has anyone had experience/trouble using the Palomar and Uni Knot with fluorocarbon on strong hook sets?
(10lb-20lb)
Question #3: If so, What know has worked for you on both hooks and Jigs?

Yes, I went back , thanks.
Went on the 3/4 Pierpoint yesterday and used the Fireline and Ironsilk. Awesome with fluorocarbon leader/jig head/squid combination.
Oh yes, another fun and useful place you should visit is the so cal fishing hot page's page of fishing terms. I've contributed many of the whacky terms we use for saltwater fishing and fishing gear here in southern California. You know what I mean when 'We're ready to drop the hook, so I chunk the iron with my favorite meat stick on the slide to go bendo and farm the slime stick when it came unbuttoned just to have a laguna tuna hit it.'

That's exactly what I've been looking for. Is that page located here at bigfishtackle? This has been my problem when reading posts or other articles regarding fishing here, is that I don't understand some of the terminology being used. We had a completely different set of terms in Massachusetts, which was different from what we used in Mississippi, etc. Anyway, that site will probably help. How'd you do the other day? We're heading out tomorrow.

I try not to directly get people to leave this site but that info is unique, so I'm sure I'll be forgiven by the powers that be here.
I use Google.com as a search engine. Then, input 'so cal fishing hot page'. Click on the resultant website. Next, click on the saltwater icon at the bottom of the page. After that, go to near the bottom of the saltwater page, find and click the FISHING TERMS, or something like that, hypertext link.

Hey: Not to worry! I have this site open most the day and will always come back here. I went to that site and found a ton of good information, thanks. I had heard many of those terms and either guessed at the meaning or simply didn't know what the heck they were talking about. Now, if I could only find pictures to go along with some of these things, especially the lures.

or over to it also. When we bottom fish, I've been tieing a dropper loop above the sinker and then attaching a snelled hook to that. The snelled hood is on about a 20 Lb test I think (not fluorocarbon either). I haven't started trying any trolling with that rig yet, so I'm not sure what I'll do concerning that.
