I have been told that it works great for catfish, but before doing it read the label. After reading the label I won't use it for fishing.

[cool][#0000ff]It is both legal and effective. However, it contains petroleum distillates that are poisonous when ingested. That includes fish that get your bait or munch your lure but don't get caught.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Lots of old timers lived by squirting WD-40 on a piece of worm, while trolling with lead core and pop gear.[/#0000ff]

Water Displacement-it does work well but with as many pollutants that go into the water by non-fisherman it's my opinion that it should be left in the garage.

in the work i do we use a lot of WD40.. we use it by the 55 gl drum!
one day i was talking to a sale's rep about peploe useing it for fishing.. he said yes they knew that it was used that way and that they did not recomend it for that! but he also said that it was about 80% fish oil.. that would be why the fish would like the sent of it..

[cool][#0000ff]In some cases almost anything will work to mask the natural human odors that sometimes repel fish. There are a whole buncha commercially available fish scent and attractant concoctions on the market that work well and are made of non-toxic and biodegradable ingredients. Even better, most of them will work as well or better than WD-40. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]It's just that some folks have to use something really "off the wall" and then make a lot of noise about it. Doesn't matter that it is not really the universal solution to world peace or a cure for cancer.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Kinda like all of those miracle lures advertised on infomercials and in full page ads in the papers. They all sound great, but they are usually designed more to catch fishermen than fish. Some work, but seldom better than cheaper and less advertised lures.[/#0000ff]
