[red]Welcome to Rivalry Week. Where neighbors become enemies, offices are divided, and the smack talk is knee deep.[Wink] I as a Ute fan congratulate the Zoo on their Conference Championship. For as many seniors BYU has this year, you shouldnt expect anything less. [Tongue] Get ready for your two game losing streak starting next week. Cause we all know BYU cannot beat Utah anymore and god forbid BYU win a bowl game![cool][/red]

Petty or TD, move this where it belongs to the Off topic.

Nothing-- it's on the off topic board silly!

Go Cougars! Nice to see the big wins like I was used to seeing as a kid back in the day. I got to attend the wyo game where we dismantled them last week. Good stuff.

[red]You were picked to win last year too? I wish I would have taken the 11 points Vegas gave us last year. I have to admit, the zoo's offense has looked dangerous all year. It is the rivalry game, we are playing at our house and the Utes will bring their A game that they have only shown a few times this year. (Unfortunately)

I love this rivalry, it is fun no matter the outcome.
If any BFTers are going to the game (yes you zoo fans too) feel free to come by the tailgate lot for some food and drinks. I am at the Utah van right across from the Utefans.net pirate ship.

Just a couple of honest questions though!

1) If Utah beats a Senior laden zoo team, what is going to happen to you guys next year being depleted?

2) If by chance TDS can pull it off the win, what is going to happen to you guys next year being depleted?

Depleted? Depleted? You MUST be un-informed.
Going into the Wyoming game, BYU's defense was ranked 11th in the country. If you are not aware, we are only losing TWO starters on defense, and only the loss of one (Cameron Jensen) will be felt. We will return 9 starters, and a dozen guys who have playing experience, not to mention guys coming off missions.

On Offense is probably what you are referring to us maybe being depleted. We will lose John Beck, Johnny Harline, Curtis Brown, Jake Kuresa, and Nate Meikle. Those are all significant contributors that have made BYU have the second best Offensive numbers in the country, with the first four of them likely going on to the NFL. BUT, we have almost the entire O-line back, and our receivers, plus we gain Austin Collie (MWC Freshmen of the year, and freshmen All-american in 2004) back from a mission. We also have a couple of big time tight ends that will be replacing Johnny Harline. We get FUI and Tonga back next year, along with a lot of other strong back-ups. Every position is stacked with talent AND starting experience. Only at QB is there a question. And only a question of who will start,, as there are a number of competitive guys in there. Yes it is a significant position, but with the guys surrounding him, I know whomever wins the role, will be good enough to make BYU a competitor for their second straight Conference championship.

We might not put up the record numbers next year, like we have all this year,, but we will be A LOT deeper on both sides of the ball.

By no means will we be "depleated". And you are ignoring the fact that we have DOMINATED the Mountain West Conf. this year, winning on average by 30 points. That is a VERY respectable stat, and cannot be ignored, whether you're a rival fan or not.

[Wink]Hey polokid,, it's rivalry week... I ain't starting nothing buddy,, just like you said,, it's the week where the most trash is and SHOULD be talked. That's what's so fun about college football.[cool]

I can't wait for all the games on Saturday. Going fishing on Friday so I can take in the best Saturday of the entire college football season!

Having said all of this,,, it seems like whomever is NOT supposed to win the BYU/Utah game,, always finds a way to win. I will admit, although I believe BYU will eventually win, they will have to play REALLY well to beat an always talented and fired up Utah squad.

Go Cougars!

[red]Well...........What a game! I have to hand it to Beck and his offense for their last two drives. I have to admit, I was shocked to see the numbers Ratliff put up, but it definitely was one of those games where the the team that has the ball last wins! [/red]
[red]I can say I am proud of my Utes, they put up a hell of a fight against a really good team yesterday. I foresee us going to San Diego and winning. I just hope BYU and any other MWC teams can represent in their bowl games as well.

The game was amazing! You couldn't have scripted a crazier finish! I was going nuts, especially on that last play,, watching Beck scramble all over the place. Reminded me of play ground ball back in grade school! I was exhausted after watching all of that. Felt like I'd played the game myself! My brother jumped up and yelled so hard on that last play, that he passed out cold and smacked the floor hard.

Both teams had their moments where they looked great. That is exactly how rivalry games should be. You gotta love college football for stuff like that! So much emotion and intensity in those rivalry games!

At least both teams will be bowling in December!

[red]It is amazing how many close games these two teams have had in the past 10 years. Besides 1996 and 2004 their scores have only been within a touchdown and many of those is with in a field goal. It cant be said enough when they play to throw out the stats and records.[/red]

Sure was incredible. I had to listen, as I don't have the holier than thou mountain, but it was an emotional rollercoaster! Congrats to both teams for a well played, and hard fought contest. It was nice to see the cougs pull off a win after a few loosing years though. This rivalry is really something else.
