Fly tying 101 pic and recipe
#1
San Juan worm

Hook: Daiichi 1120-10-6 Scud hook
Thread: color to match chenelle
body: ultra chenelle

best to start off with red ones because they are easier to tie than brown![Wink]

most common colors are: orange, worm brown, red.

instructions: start thread at eye, wrap it to the bend, tie in ultra chenelle leaving a tail off the back, pull chenelle back and wrap thread to middle, lay chenelle back down and wrap a couple times in the same spot, pull chenelle back again and wrap thread to front, lay chenelle down again and tie it off, whip finish, singe ends.

Tips: if tying a bunch it is easier to cut your chenelle pieces to size first. Also instead of singeing each fly wait until done with the bunch and light a candle then singe them.

Now you need to show a San Juan advanced version with a hump on the back. They look more life like, like they are swimming in the water.

How about I 1 up you with a combination called a glo worm, a mix of a glo bug and a san juan worm.

just add a couple wraps of standard chenelle to make the egg.

I do like the san juan with the hump. I also like the one were a brass bead is tied in under the hump.
