On the 13th Pineview was cold but good fishing for the perch. Dropped down the first hole at 8:00am and had a limit of perchies by noon.

Usually the perch come in one size or another, this time the full range from tiny to 11". I moved around a little to check for larger fish, but kept returning to the original hole, where they were of all sizes but consistent action. I guess this is good for the future fishery.

One hint, the perch by far preferred wax worms more than eyeball, perch meat or mealies. That was a little different.

No crappie, but then again I was fishing away from the narrows, where recently others report crappie being taken, but there seemed to be a lot of folks camped out there.

Fished Pineview Friday and Sunday down towards the dam. The Crappie were not as active in the early morning close to the North shore by the caretakers house so we moved across to the South side and caught a few Crappie and perch in 56' of water and about 30 yds from shore. About 1100 we moved back toward the Northern end and drilled some new areas closer to the dam West of the access about 50 yds and immediately hooked up with Crappie. They were visiting my partner's fishing hole and he gathered 4 keepers. I caught a couple more crappie and some perch. It seemed the crappie were off the bottom about 3-5 ft. as viewed on my flasher. Sunday I was there again before daylight and caught 2 crappie at 0800 then nothing till 0930 when we moved to the middle of the narrows. Caught a 3 more Crappie and few perch. Saw a good amount of fish on the Vexilar but hard to coax them into biting. Used waxies, mealies with small green crappie jigs and perch jigs with a flasher. Couldn't stand the cold any longer and left about noon. The crappies we got were smaller, about 9-10" and perch were 7-9". My friend Jimmy caught a nice smallmouth through the ice just after I left. Hope it warms up some.
