[black][size 3]I have seen this more than I care to. Not just BFT but other forums I frequent.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Okay, you get out to fish and you have what feels to you to be the best! So you are all pumped up and you wanna share it with others that are suppose to enjoy the same thing.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Whether it be a fish, or a bunch of fish, tactics, size weight whatever, there always seems to be one or two people that just HAVE TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE![/size][/black]
[black][size 3]I don't get it. I was taught if you have nothing nice to say, don't speak. I admit, I am old school, but can someone enlighten me on this.[/size][/black]

Well said. Thats why I don't share because of this criticism. You should always appreciate others catches. We all would like 10 lbers but that does not always happen.

MacTuna is right! You not only have to be careful what you share, but even HOW you go about sharing it. There will always be someone with a "bigger / stronger / faster / more / better" comeback story.
But take heart, FlyGoddess: for the most part, you are amongst friends!!!

[cool][#0000ff]Don't let it bother you. It is THEIR problem...not yours. Sure, it is aggravating, but there are just a lot of people who are jealous and have to pull themselves up by pulling other people down.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You asked WHY? One of my original TubeDude philosophies is that "Anytime you ask a WHY question, and it has to do with people, there is not likely to be a good answer."[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The dingbats and the detractors are in the minority. Don't let them get to you. I usually just delete them as soon as I see them but some are only borderline and some get past us mods.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If anybody experiences a "flamer" or a personal attack that offends them, send me or one of the other mods a PM, with a link to the offending post. We will review it and take appropriate action.[/#0000ff]

[black][size 3]You Moderators do THE BEST! and the problems usually don't last long but we have lost a couple of good posters and post to some @holes that cause the whole post to be pulled.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Tube Dude you know I am notorious for asking WHY, but it is not ment to challenge but to help understand.[/size][/black]

[black][size 3]For those readers that get off on stirring the kettle, please take a minute to think it through as to what the other person might feel by your act.[/size][/black]

[black][size 3]I guess I am thinking a lot about this because of the recent shooting for no reason at Trolly Square.[/size][/black]

People do have to be careful, like me for example, I'm pretty careful not to brag about my good looks, charisma, eloquence, fishing abilities and all around goodness. Most people don't have that sort of self control though [ ]. If only I could be cloned!
On a more serious note, I've heard of it called as the crab theory. If you've gone crab catching you'll know what I mean. You put a bunch of crabs in a bucket, they all try to get out, as soon as one starts making progress, the other crabs grab on to him and pull him down.
I think a lot of it is a guy thing too, guys are generally very competive and most guys have a hard time not turning everything into some sort of competition. Still not nice though. If only all guys were as sensitive of other's feelings as I am.

I hear you Nica. I must have missed the offending post. Sorry FG for your bad experience. I know exactly what you are talking about. I will also say that, luckily, those kinds of things are pretty few and far between on this board. Overall my experience here has been very, very positive. Cannot say the same thing about every board I visit--I suppose that is why I spend so much time here. Mods, you do a great job, and TD, I am counting the days 'till there is soft water and I can take you up on your float tube test drive offer from last fall. Been looking at the FishCat 4 now that I have lost a substantial amount of weight, the 250lb max might be O.K. Anyway, don't want to hijack the thread...

Yes, very true. Gendered communication styles. Ah, my area of expertise. Folks who have a masculine style of speech engage in what communication theory describes as "report talk." The central characteristic of masculine speech that it is instrumental, task oriented, focuses on getting things done. And of course, masculine speech is very direct, and competitive in nature since an additional characteristic of masculine speaking is that it is information and competence based. Masculine speakers want to demonstrate that they know more about a given topic than everyone else. They want to be "regular original know it alls." In contrast communicators who have a more feminine style engage in "rapport talk." Feminine communicators are more empathetic and supportive of other people. The central characteristic of feminine speech is that it focuses on maintaining postive interpersonal relationships between people. Importantly one's style of communication is not necessary based on sex, so although most guys are masculine not all men necessarily are. Sex is a biological characteristic whereas gender is a cultural construct.....an idea or norm created by humans.

Dude...stop it...you speaking with a golden like that is making us other fellas look bad, that's pretty fancy speak for us trying to be know-it-alls and who claim eloquence. [ ]
Very well said however. I think I know what they call them other fellas who are biologically male but may not speak as such. I'll leave it to you all to guess. [laugh]

Your explanations seems to be a perfect example of masculine speech aka Cliff Clavinism. Very nicely done.

Why yes, I do know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago I had a thread about ice fishing sleds and someone came in and started accusing another poster of having pictures of stolen goods in their post. That poster removed his post and pictures due to the harrassment.

Yes that was me that mentioned it in the post first(about the basket, cause I have one that looks just like it that I bought, but it does look like the ones in the stores for quick items) but I wasn't sure, therefore, a joke with the LOL included. I noticed he pulled his post and I am so sorry that happened.
Again it was a joke, where it went from there might be part of the problems this post is directed at.

[#0000ff]I kinda wonder if he might be like those rhinestone cowboys...all glitter and no guns. Or...maybe he is like the show gunslinger who can write his name with his fancy twirliug pistols...but ask him to shoot somebody or something and he gets the shakes.[/#0000ff]

Yes, it wasn't long before the "Piling On" started. All in jest and good fun, but some don't take it as well as others.
This is a more friendly web site than other local sites, and I for one like it that way.
As far as the Trolley Square tragedy, we cannot control the actions of others. There is evil everywhere. What I'm doing about it is to buy a personel handgun and get my CWP. I hate to say it but we are a real city now.

I am actually glad you brought this up.. I used to post on another website, I wont say which one but I will say it is sponsored by the state of utah [ ], and the eliteism and flaming that occurs on that site have absolutely turned me off of that site.. it feels like one of those internet chat sites where everyone wants to show off and argue... this place was a breath of fresh air, but over the last few months it has turned a little, hopefully we can get back on track..
we need these reminders to keep everyone civil and remember that we are here to share in the enjoyment of fishing....
