[/size]
What happens when the college basketball madness of March meets the great debate of fisherman everywhere? You get Big Fish Madness. After consulting the VERSUS panel of experts we finally answer the question that has been argude since the first fish was caught on rod and reel...pound-for-pound, which is the "Toughest" Gamefish in the world.

We've set up a field of 32 fish that will face off in a bracket-style format and be compared head-to-head until just one fish is left with the title of "World's Toughest Gamefish".

The tournament will take place over four nights and eature some of the most spectacular fishing action on television. Host Steve Porino will take viewers through each match-up as we go through the 32 fish field. Plus check out all the "Fish Extra's such as our Expert Picks from the VERSUS on-air fishing experts, fish facts on each gamefish, complete show schedule and more.

You can play along just like filling out your college basketball bracket and have a chance to win some great prizes.

HOW TO PLAY
1. Scroll your mouse over the fish name for a quick, "Fish Fact" for that particular species.
2. Pick your Fish Winner for each match-up.
2. Complete the entire bracket.
3. Enter your bracket using the "Submit" button.
4. Review your bracket and make changes up until the start of the Big Fish Madness Challenge on VERSUS.
5. Final Brackets MUST BE submited by March 14th at 7:30pm ET.
6. Print your bracket out and watch the results unfold.
(see Show Schedule for air dates/times)

Good luck!

When you get to the page that says "Returning Players Log in Here" click on it. Then it takes you to the next page. There is a button that says [url "http://www.versus.com/nw/article/view/32043/?tf=FieldSports_ArticleGeneric.tpl"][Image: big_fish_play.jpg][/url]. Click it and it gives you the exact information that I did a Copy/Paste with.[cool]

It is still confusing.[crazy]

I finally figured it out. It took the second beer to do it.

They give you 2 different elimination brackets to choose from.

You are given 2 different fish in each section. Pick the fish that is most likely the strongest puller.

Take a another section and do the same. It will then put the 2 fish that you picked and compare them on the strength scale.

It will keep doing that until you have the final match.

There are 2 full brackets of elimination so you have to compare a bunch of fish from each other and come out with 1 top dog to compare against the other full bracket of fish.

It's kind of confusing but I found out that it works.

If you have fished enough places throughout the world, it should be now sweat. After all in one of the brackets they are comparing the fight of a Blue Marline to a Rainbow Trout. duhhhh. How hard can that one be??[laugh][laugh][laugh]

I ended up with a Wahoo, but is it pound for pound toughest puller or toughest puller period?

It is the toughest puller period. You can still change your choices before the March 14 deadline.

I ended up with the Short Fin Mako over the Black Marlin.

They are referring to legitimate IGFA statistics. If you hover your cursor over the fish name at the extreme left or the exteme right, they will give you some imformation.

I used past experience as my guide. I have caught every fish on the list except for a Peacock Bass and the Permit. I am hoping to go to Hawaii this year to add the Peacock Bass to my list as well as the Tiger Shark.[cool]

Thank you buddy!

You went with the Black over the Blue? I might have to go with the Blue but I'll let you come over and watch the new Plasma when I win it.[Wink]

Actually, I was thinking you two could come by and watch the race on MY NEW plasma TV. LOL I figured it out. Blue marlin will prevail over all. Black marlin get bigger, blue marlin are stronger. It's tough though, remember, "pound for pound." Personally, I think a blue gill is tougher, pound for pound, than any Mako or marlin ever thought of being. However, i'm pretty sure the masses won't see it that way. Most will be looking at size and speed. And if you want to get real technical about it, I think the Atlantic Spadefish pulls harder than any other fish out there. Think i'm full of it? A 8 pound spade fish trashed one of my medium action rods a couple of years ago, snapped in half. I've also had them break 20 line like it wasn't crap. I'm talking 6 to 8 pound fish guys. You can't run the drag too loose or they cut you off on the reef. You can run it too tight or they will break you off. No heavy line as they will catch on quick. They are an awesome game fish, and easy to target. [cool]

That would have really changed my game plan if they would have put an Opaleye in there. They are like Blue Gills on steroids. A two pound fish can send you home crying. I've had one pull the reel right out of the reel seat on my rod.[cool]

LOL, i've never had a reel come out of the rod, but i've seen it happen before. We were fishing on a pier one day and this old guy got a run on his King Mackerel rig. He fought it for like 5 minutes and then the reel just poped of the rod. LMAO, it was so funny! [sly] You know, that guy caught that king. He reeled that fish in holding the reel in his hands. He had a little help, but he got it. You know the old school fiberglass big game rods that had like some kind of cheap steel reel seat? The pressure from the fish actually ripped the reel from the seat, splitting the little pieces that the reel slides into. I'd never seen that happen before. LOL, I guess he was long over due for a new rod.

That is exactly how mine came out with the other fish. That company contacted me a few months ago and asked if I would do a test for some of their newer lines that are coming out.

I asked if their problem had been addresed with the reel seats and to my surprise, they said that they were not aware of any problems. I told them to go ahead and send me the disclosures, equipment and so forth.

I mailed them back another rod with a broken reel seat.

Go Figure![cool]
