Hey all,
I will be heading down to Pismo Beach on 9/9-9/16 this fall, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a charter company to go do a little fishing. Also what will I be most likely targeting that time of year.
Thanks

Get a charter out of Port San Louis, near Avila Beach, 10 miles north of Pismo. Point Sal is the hot bottom fishing area. See if the boat "Diabalo" is still running. (I used to be a deck-hand on it in another life.) If you can travel up to Morro Bay, Virg's Landing is another good area with a reputable charter fleet.
Other than bottom fish (ling cod, snapper, cabezon, etc), it all depends on water temperatures and El Nino as to the species available. Albacore are sometimes available, and lots of fun.
There's good freshwater fishing there at Lopez, Santa Margarita, and Cachuma lakes. Also some of the best clams on the planet at Pismo Beach! Fork 'em on the lowest tide.

Patriot Sportfishing runs 2 boats out of Avila now.Up the road, you can hit Virg's in Morro Bay.Both fish basically the same areas with "long range" trips available to take you to the remote areas off Big Sur.

Why don't you go down to San Diego or go out on the boats in mexicali, good fishing down there.

I amyt due that as well. I am going to be with the whole Famn Damily so I am just looking at my options at this moment. If I do go out of San Diego do you have a recomendation. I would perfer a Tuna trip, but most likely it will be a rock fish trip.
Thanks
