FInally bought a toon!

Hey All,
Been tubin' for years. mostly in CA, and some in Canada. Had a few Caddis tubes, the most recent being the Navigator II that finally gave up the ghost. Have been fishing some bass tourneys in the 2nd seat of a "grown-up" boat and decided I was going to upgrade in order to tackle some larger bodies of water. Picked up a Trout Unlimited Colorado and waiting for it's arrival. Also picked up a Minn Kota 38lb thrust trolling motor.

Have scoured your pages and am really impressed with the imaginative rigging options you folks have come up with. I've also got a fishin' buddy II and have looked at your research on fishfinders - am thinking about the Humminbird 565, I'd like to have that 60 degree cone to see further out.

I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions! Look forward to your answers.

That is GREAT. But, what was wrong with the NFO Navigator II? It is brand new so I am assuming that yours is new. You can put a motor on it.

I got the toon through Costco for $299 - at least $100 less than anywhere else I looked. Navigator II and Pro II were about $140-$170 and after 25 years of tubing, I thought it a good time to upgrade.
I did a Google search for NFO Navigator II and came up with nothing. Could you tell me more about it? I know that the tubing part of the Caddis Company moved to BC. (I had to call there to get 2 replacement bladders), only to find that when I started to put them in, the whole float tube was falling apart. Another reason for the upgrade...

My bad[crazy] I am a North Fork Outdoors girl (Dave Scadden) and he has a new Toon/Tube called the Navigator II, but it is definitly different then what you are talking about. And the price on it is around $900.

I think you will enjoy the new Toonage. I have both, but prefer the option of rowing.
If you are to put a motor on, consider the fact that you want the battery as close to the center as possible and you will probably need to slide you frame as far up the toons toward the front as you can.

Wow - thanks for that photo. I'm a pretty big guy and your suggestion of balancing the toon by battery placement and sliding the frame up is a great one! Rest assured, you'll be hearing from me as I travel the journey "toonward."

Since my Classic Rogue and your TU Colorado are basically the same, you should look at my pics for how I set mine up. BTW,I'm 6'2" and 250. Also note that I use a Humminbird 575 which has a really wide view.

That yellow pontoon looks identical to my creek company odc classic, it's not at all designed to carry a battery and motor.
