4# bow at hyrum
#1
we hit hyrum this morning and it was cold and a little windy but my daughter nailed this 4 pounder, he was full of snails and FAT.
it was extremely exiting for her.
fishing was slow we had a few other bites and boated 2 total in 3 hrs time.
water temp was 61 and it seemed that there were more out trolling than anchored.
we used powerbait.

it was pretty cool for her, the fish and game officer took her picture and got the measurements of it,
she's on cloud nine over the whole deal and is not a bit shy about rubbing it in.
it was only 20" but very girthy.

it was so cool, she's been going fishing with me for a few years now and has caught a few of decient fish but this one made her day because of its size and it put up a good fight,
she pulled it in on an ultra light pole with 4lb line, my parents were in their boat next to ours and we were all cheering her on.
when it made it to the boat the first time she seen how big it was I thought she was going to lose her pole she was so exited.
I netted it for her and removed the hook and for a little prissy 10yr old she cradled that fish against her like she had won the lottery.
she has always loved to go fishing but never liked to handle the fish but this one truly broke the ice for her.
she has been reading all the replies today and is very pleased that others are sharing in her exitement.

Great fish!! Nothing like your daughter fishing like a pro. There seems to be more and more larger bows being taken from Hyrum lately. Tell your daughter to keep up the great work.

[black]Sweet! Congrats to your daughter! Hyrum does produce some fine rainbows occasionally. I saw a 7-1/2 pounder caught through the ice in 5' of water several years back. Occasionally, you hear of a thumper brown coming out of there too. Not too long ago, a 9 pound brown was caught down by the dam.[/black]
