I caught a snake. Yeah a snake and crawfish. Neither of which was what I wanted. I called the state park office and they said there weren't poisonous ones around here. Surprise of my life catching a snake. I was scared before I knew there weren't alot of poisonous snakes here and they are pretty rare where I was catching bait. I don't know anything about snakes. Just in case though I am going to get one of those snake bite kits from Wal-Mart just in case I ever do catch a snake that is poisonous. Just best to be prepared as best as you can be for the worst situation.

It is always fun to catch the unexpected surprise. I am always fascinated by snakes and have learned quite a bit without becoming a Herpatologist.
It is a good idea to study up on the type of snakes in your area. Take note as to the ones that are non venomous but look close to it's venomous cousin.
Before attempting to use a snake bite kit, get some education about it from a reliable scource.
DO NOT ever suck the poison out of an injury with your mouth!
The American Red Cross offers First Aid classes. Have them expand the knowledge point about snake bites when you take the class.[cool]

I should probably research what type of snakes are around. If I catch another one I am just going to let it drown in the bait trap as I don't know what is poisonous and what isn't. I don't think I am allowed to kill them in a state park so it would have to just drown in the bait trap. I catch my bait in a state park where a crick is near the lake I like to fish at.
