Sunday tubing/fishing....
#1
Called my buddy 'let's go fishing tomorrow' he says he can't. Then asked my youngest son 'let's go fishing', he didn't wanna go....
Oh well it is just me....loaded up the truck with the fishing stuff and took off.
Thought about trying a small pond and drove there. Found they had post "No side parking on this side" all along both sides of the street. That street was a big loop as in that area was a Auto Mall of all brand of cars and trucks. Doesn't sound like a good idea to park off somewhere, area police do watch the area all the time so don't want any tickets or have my truck towed to who knows where... It was Sunday and nobody is around there.
Thought about another area that I used to fish for short hours, drove over there and found they had torned up the backroads to it. Sounds like building homes around there now. Oh well so long little lake....
One more try drove over there and yikes another one being clear out for more homes......lake is still there but not the same. Thought about going where I always go but it was quite a long way and always good fishing and it will never be sold to home builders!!!!! Didn't have much time to do that so stay at this one. Got out of the truck and walked around half of the lake.....I don't like the looks of the water but it does show signs of fish, as it is too coffee with cream looking..I only have about two hours to play before I gotta get back home to cook dinner and it is hot out at 98 degress. Better jump in before my mind changes.
Ah the water is nice and cool. Winds is pretty strong, not good for canoeing but the old FishMaster took it well. (Yep, TubeDude, those fins do help!!) Cast with the wind to the shore all around. Biggest paint turtle came up not too far and I was goofing around trying to "knock" on his shell by trying to cast to it but missed by a foot and bam hooked a largemouth. It fought hard and drove my rod into the water, zig zag around the tube! Some fun and brought it close to the tube, nice size I would say 3 pounder. Let it go. Sun is burning down pretty hard as I'm nuts to be on the water at one in the afternoon! Fish only for an hour and I got four bass two seems like 2 pounder and one was a kiddie. Not a bad lake but seems like can't fish there later when something is building soon....
The rod holder works great and I like it! Now I'm thinking of a drink holder somewhere along the rodholders.....

Way to go on the perserverance. It's nice to see a story with a happy ending.

I still have my old fishmaster. Mine is only about 30 to 35 years old. They are fun with a big enough fish to give you a spin.[cool]

[cool][#0000ff]Good report. I always enjoy making a good trip out of just a fast getaway. You never know unless you make the effort.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You might be on to something with that turtle. next time take an extra rod rigged with a turtle decoy. Toss it out on the water first and then cast around it. Hey...it might work.[/#0000ff]
