Late Lake X Perch Report
#1
Hit Jordanelle Thursday morning with Watkinator. Had to leave that night and just got back, so it's a bit late in coming.

We hit the water about 6:00 at the PWC ramp at Hailstone (thanks for the recommendation, TD). Between the two of us we probably caught close to a hundred fish. They ranged anywhere from this monster...

to this 11-incher...

with an assortment of everything in between.

Many thanks go out to TubeDude for fixing me up with a few of his famous PBJ plungers--they really did the trick! They even caught fish who just happened to be passing by the general area (don't ask me how this one got himself in such a quagmire)!

The vast majority of the fish were perch, but there were the occasional smallies who came around to play, ranging from 9-16 inches.

Watkinator had a good time bringing that one in on a little ice rod...

The wind was fairly calm, but got howling pretty bad later in the morning/early afternoon.

Overall we had a great time. We kept about 10 that were ripe for the frying and several more dinks to use for Lincoln Beach kitties.

That was my first fishing/tubing trip at Lake X, and it definitely won't be my last!

Again, special thanks go out to TD for his generosity and great advice!

[cool][#0000ff]Good report Justin. Glad you guys had a good time.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]That really is a good spot for perchin' this time of year, especially from a tube. I'll have to join you up there some time and give you the TPS (Tubers' Positioning System) coordinates on some other spots. There are good spots for both trout and smallies when the water cools a couple of degrees.[/#0000ff]

Count me in! I'm actually thinking of heading back up there with the wife this Saturday morning. It sure is a nice spot for someone in her condition (pregnant) because it's not too far of a kick from the ramp. I really think she'll like it.

By the way, I'm sorry to hear about your recent loss at Starvation. I felt sympathy pangs because I know how great those PBJ's are and how much time it must have taken to make them. They are extremely well-crafted, better than anything I've seen in stores. There were two or three times when I had doubles on with them.

Let me know if & when you'd like to try to head up there again. I'm gonna try and make it out to LB on Tuesday if I can get enough of the lesser-important (non-fishing) stuff out of the way before then. [cool]

[cool][#0000ff]I'll be out of town next Saturday, so that is out. Good luck with the Mrs. Unless the W monster comes up, that spot should treat her gently.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hope you can make it Tuesday.[/#0000ff]
