D.C. Tubing

Ran up to Deer Creek this morning to try out a new pole of mine. I'm too cheap to pay the nine dollars at the main boat ramp that is now closed. So I went down to the pull-off just down the road. What a hike just to get down the hill with all my gear, then had to walk down towards the main lake just to get to the water.

On the water by 7:00, in 4 ft of water. Had to kick down the wallsburg arm quite a ways to find any water deeper then 8 ft. Made it almost out to the main lake before I hooked a 13in Largemouth in 22ft of water. Caught a few small smallies around there and one perch. Then started back on the other side. Hooked three more smallies before I pulled out around 10:45. Water temp was 69 F.

Here are a few pics of the low water levels. Sorry no pics of any fish today.

[cool][#0000ff]You should have driven just past the Island launch ramp and parked beside the road at the open gate. Much easier to reach the water and good fishing all around the "island" (peninsula). Also no fee involved.[/#0000ff]

I like fishing that area around the "island" too. That's getting to be quite a hike as well with the water back as far as it is! Still probably not as far as down by Wallsburg arm, though.

Good lookin pics, Out4aFloat, thanks for sharing.

Yeah I have fished down there quite a bit this year. But I wanted to try and get some perch. I have never got a perch out of that area before. Infact I hadn't caught any perch out of D.C. until today. So I thought that I might get some down there by the main ramp.

[cool][#0000ff]DC will probably never be a good perch hole again. Walleyes and Smallmouths put a hurtin' on them. They have been more numerous the past couple of years, when the water level gets high enough to allow them to spawn in the vegetation. This year....fuggetaboudit. All the fish will be hurtin'.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Don't molest the poor perchies in DC. Stick with Lake X.[/#0000ff]
