Strawberry 8/23/07
#1
Fished Strawberry today with my son. We vertically jigged around The Knolls and The Ladders. The fishing was almost non-stop until the dreaded "W" came up about 11:10 (it was 10 minutes late today). All cutts and a few were right at the upper end of the slot and none were under about 19 inches. Caught them on pearl, and off-white tubes tipped with a chunk of chub or 1/2 of a crawler. Right on the bottom in about 33 to 34 feet of water seemed to be the best. We were on my son's boat so I used my ice-fishing transducer and my fish-finder off of my boat. Surprisingly, that worked well.

Not too fast. I love ice season as much as the next guy, but I would like to enjoy the fall feeding before everything skins over.

We were in the same general location on Sunday had the same good results right up until the BIG "W" came in around 10:30 AM. WOW did it get rough quick! Took a real pounding ride back to the marina. Strawberry bay looked like it was churned up an egg beater. That body of water can humble even the most experienced boater! I just can't imagine being out there in a little 14' boat when it gets like that. [shocked]

Sounds like Bear Lake.

The Bear can really be a Bear almost instantly when that *W* comes up from the west.

Thanks for the report Kent. Any word on your boat/motor?

Yep, the word is Bring Out Another Thousand, or at least almost that much![unsure] Lots of items have been repaired and lots of new parts to go with the many other new parts. Maybe the shore anglers and tubers know what they are doing.

Very good report Kent. I wish I could skip off in the middle of the week like that!
I'll be kayaking with the scouts this Saturday so I won't even be able fish this weekend.

I used to N.ot have E.nough T.ime O.ff to go fishing.  Then I retired.  Now I have less time than I had before. Sheesh.

Too bad about all the money you are spending on your motor, I sure hope he will fix it this time.
