9/8 Utah Lake report
#1
Took the kids to Utah lake on Saturday. We didn't get there until about 9:00 a.m., a late start. We launched at Lindon and headed north towards the reed line. We were planning on fishing the small stream inlet between Lindon and American Fork boat harbor, but there was already a boat there, right up in the channel. It was so shallow that they were poling their boat up into it. We fished in a different spot for a little while, but with no luck. We moved back down the lake and decided to try by the bubble up. We immediately started catching fish. The white bass were in there and the kids had a great time catching them. It wasn't really fast, but we ended up keeping about 20 of the larger ones and letting the rest go. Only one small channel cat and one small bullhead were caught other than the bass. The bass ranged from a couple at 13-14 inches down to about 5 inches. Most were around 8 to 10 inches. I was using a 4 inch tail section of white bass as bait hoping for a big cat on my heavy rod, but only caught the two biggest white bass on it.

[#505000]I hit Lincoln Beach last week, and spanked the kitties and the big white bass. I did so well I tossed quite a bit back since I didn't want to take more than I could reasonably use. [cool][/#505000]

[#505000]From the sound of your report and my own experience it looks like the whitties have made a great comeback. A couple of years ago I was concerned about their numbers, and size.[/#505000]

GREAT REPORT. WAS THERE ANY WATER BUBLING OUT OF THE PIPE? BACK IN THE DAY THAT SPOT WAS THE BEST FALL SPOT ON THE LAKE WITH THE WARMER WATER FLOWING IN. FISH ON EVERY CAST OR DROP IT DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO HAVE A JIG BODY ON THE JIG. JUST A COLOR ON THE HEAD. KEN

Yes, there was a lot of water bubbling up, it looked like a steady boil. This is the first time I have fished the bubble up and I was amazed at sight. The best spot we found was to cast right on the edge of the boiling water where it started to calm, just like fishing the edge of a current in a river. The water coming in was also much clearer than the rest of the lake.

Thank you for the report. I am out Wednesday morning. What is the best way to get to Lindon harbor? I will be coming from the north.

The regular road to the marina is closed. For now, get off I-15 at Center street in Orem, go west to Geneva road (that's as far west as you can go) turn left to and go to 400S. On 400 South turn right. Go a block or two west and turn right on the east side of the softball park, you'll be heading north now. Just follow this road to the marina. There are signs to mark the way from the time you get off I-15.
