Huntington ramp ??
#1
Anybody have an update on whether or not the ramp is complete at Huntington yet ? Planning an early October trip up there and we're hoping we can launch a 14 ft aluminum. Is it possible to launch our boat without the ramp and without killing ourselves ? One more thing..is there any streams close by in that area that we would be able to flyfish ? Any input would be appreciated...thanks guys.

there was no ramp there a week ago. and the lake is very low! a long walk from where you park to the water.. so if ya dont like luging your boat a long way huntington is good..lol

E-lake or gooseberry would be better for a easy launch..

Try the right fork of Huntington Creek below E Lake dam for fly fishing. Note: it is flys only, not artificials only. There is the left fork as well which you can hike into from near Millers flat or from the confluence. The left fork is artificial flies and lures.

Huntington has been calling me for a couple weeks now. I think I might give in (an angler can only resist those callings just so long) and get down there this week with my Porta-bote. I hope everyone keeps reading this report on the UDWR website and fishes elsewhere:[Wink]

[#555555]"HUNTINGTON RESERVOIR:[/#555555] (also known as MAMMOTH RESERVOIR) Slow fishing continues, based on the reports that have come in. No recommendations."

well kent the water is very low.. i dont know if they are keeping it that low because they are putting the ramp in or if they are just uesing that much water this year.. it's a long LONG walk to the lake from where you park!!

I have wheels on the boat that help a lot unless it is really muddy.

I was up there in the afternoons for a week while elk hunting. I ran into the contractor who is putting in the ramp and he said he hopes to have the ramp completed by November but did not seem very optimistic about the estimated completion date.

It would be a shame if that ramp is not put in while the water is low and before the snow flies up there.

The ramp looks far from being completed. But there werw 2 boaots launced saturday. One guy parked about 5 feet from the water so it shouldnt be that much work launching. Also fishing was good early morning hope this helps.

What part of the lake (midlake or by the dam) did a guy get parked within 5 feet of the water?

One guy was about 200 feet from the ramp and about 5 feet from the water.Guess he found some dry land. The other maybe 100 feet from the ramp and there were 4 of them so they carried the boat down to water .Guess he didnt want to chance t getting stuck.
