Silver Lake / AF Canyon
#1
Thinking of hitting Silver Lake, above Silver Lake Flat up AF Canyon. Heard there's a chance of Greyling. Thought it might be fun.
Can anyone tell me about the place, what to expect, use, and what kind of hike it is to get there?
Appreciate it.

I've never been up to Silver Lake, only been to Silver Lake Flats. There are grayling there I believe, although I don't think there will be much size them. The hike seems to be a pretty good one. I have not braved trying it.

The hike is about 2.5 miles. The last half pretty steep. The lake is pretty low right now. It seems to seep out. I went up there a couple of weeks ago to check out the grayling that were planted according to the stocking reports. I could not find any sign of a grayling of any size. But the brookies were feeding on top like crazy. I caught around 130 that day but they were pretty small. (5-10")

Great, thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
What were you using to catch the Brookies? I'll have to wander up and give it a shot.

I was using a fly and bubble. Started with a renegade. When they chewed it up I put on a red ant and a royal coachman. By the time that I quit they had pretty well ate all the feathers off of those flies too. I was very close to fishing with a bare hook. I really don't think they would have cared what fly I used. Try any small fly ~ #12.
