I catch more fish on 4" then 5" when fishing for smallies, but when I fish for largemouth I use 5" an 6" depending on what lake I'm on....

I agree with Clif.
I've always heard that a "bigger bait catches bigger fish", but I've always found a 4" Baby Senko to outfish a 5" Senko for Smallies at Jordanelle. Both in numbers of fish caught and size. Weird. Nate [signature]

When fishing for 'big smallmouth' like you said I fish a 5" senko. Of course, there are alot of conditions that may affect what I use. Sometimes downgrading to a slow sinking 3" senko is what they might be after. It's hard to pinpoint what the best size is but if you have an arsenal to back you up it's always fun to experiment with different colors, shapes, sizes, custom jobs, etc untill you find the right one.

I will use both. It seems to me though that color is a more important determinant of success on most given days than length of the stickbait. If they want a certain color, they will readily hit a 4" or a 5" of that color and will refuse other colors of either size.
