Split nose brown?
#1
Ever seen anything like this? This 23" brown caught Saturday had a big hook jaw, and his top nose had evolved to make room for his hook jaw.

I've never seen anything like this. The hook jaw usually extends past, or else the mouth will just not close all the way.

Done a lot of salmon fishing also, and never seen anything similar on any hook-jawed fish.

Maybe this guy must have been grinding his teeth too much at night... =)

I am looking at my TU calender now and it has a photo this month of exactly what you are speaking of but only it is a samon. That looks like the GR you were on and I haven't seen a brown look that way.

Yeah, I would maybe expect it more of a salmon, but it was sure funky to see on a brown.

Not the GR, but good guess. =)

That is an awsome looking brown. I'm a fish taxidermist and have seen this quite often on the bigger male browns. Although from your photo it appears to be a little more extreme than what I have seen. Nice fish.
