So, some of you guys don't listen to music while on the water and from what TD is saying, that is probably a good idea.
I personally like to get "siked" up for my trip and listen to music on the way to a tournament or just fun fishing. I have been in many vehicles and it seems to be a different story for all.
I like to listen to all kinds of music and I favor R&B ... RAP ... Old Country and some top 40s. No Rock will be heard coming out my speakers. Anything that will get me in the mood to hammer them fish.
What about you guys?

one definition of music is defined as 'harmonic sounds with a melody', so that leaves rap out . . rap is rap, it aint music! and what they call r&b is a drum machine and vocal histronics . . . if you want to know what r & b is, i'll send ya a sam and dave cd . .

I got to have music on while I'm in the truck. For a while now I've been hooked on alternative. Some of my favorites are Incubus, Linkin Park, Live, POD--even a little Disturbed and Rage Against the Machine. Speakin' of which, my favorite new band is Audioslave.
There's just something about driving down a dirt road with the windows down and hard rock on the radio (but not loud enough to make more noise than the truck). While I'm fishing I prefer the "natural" soundtrack.

Before I get on my boat, I love to listen to high powered amped up rock n roll such as Van Halen, AC/DC, KISS, Journey, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cheap Trick, Pink Floyd, Queen, Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Doors, The Grateful Dead, Cars, and many other older stuff.
Anything that sounds like rap, is just a typo for raping music...
Country? I'll leave that to the drinkings days, broken homes, and broken hearts. Just not into that sort of stuff.
I leave the music in the car, and let the drone of the boat's motor, and the wind in my hair be my music with the great wide outdoors being a natural amphitheater.

I'm with walleyepaul and muskyhunter, but need to add a couple more. Ronnie James DIO, Whitesnake, Great White, and maybe some 38 Special.

Bob Segar and the silver bullet band... ahhh I sorta forgot about him. I'm gonna go into the attic and retrieve some of his old cassette tapes and play it for old times sakes! Thanks Harold for the reminder!

How can you talk about fishing music without mentioning Bean and mines favorite......Jimmy Buffet. Also, Billy Joels "Downeaster Alexa" is the greatest fishing song made. Very applicable on my boat (when I had one), Bob Seagers " Ship of Fools". After years of research I know certain types of fish react to different types of music, here is how they match up.
Perch - Willie Nelson, Trout - Classical mainly symponys with lots of strings and very little drums, Panfish - Hank Williams Jr., Bass - (non-spawn) Lynard Skynard; (spawn) - Black Sabboth, Walleye - The Uppers (pronounced You-pers), Grouper - Rolling Stones, Amberjack - Six Feet Under and Canibal Corpse, Salmon (all types) - the sound track from "Saturday Night Fever", Musky - MotorHead
