Flaming Gorge Catch Report- 11/24/07
#1
Winter temps finally arrived in the high country, but the Canyon region of the Gorge is slow to cool down. Surface temps are still hanging around 45-46 F, after 5 nights in the single digits.

The fish are moving shallow and we caught 20-25 rainbows and one laker pup, in about 3.5 hours of fishing in Dutch John Draw and around Mustang Ridge. Most of the rainbows were smaller (11-14 in.), but 6 were pushing 18 inches with lots of girth. The most effective technique was trolling #5 Shad Raps in copper and crawdad, running about 13 ft deep under a planer board. Just about every time we swung the boards into shore we had a hook-up. We also caught a few smaller, open water bows. We marked very few fish deeper than 40 ft, and the lakers failed to make an appearance. The one laker we caught hit Cowbells followed by a #3 Needlefish in Flour. Green Hot Tiger, running at 55 ft. Boat speed was 1.5-1.8 mph.

Hope it helps, Ryno

Another great report as always and thanks for all the details. I guess you caught no kokanes on this trip but from what I learned on you last post you should be able to keep them this weekend[Smile].
