Widastick and myself had a little time on Turkey Day after gorging ourselves with the holiday feast.... so we decided to take a ride up Fairview canyon to check the ice on Huntington Res. The ice was real questionable... so we headed down the road a little ways and caught a few browns. Fished just below where the creek crosses the road. Only spent about 45 minutes to an hour... but caught these little guys....

We both needed a "Fishing Fix" and this did the job until Saturday rolled around when we were able to ice fish on Huntington Res....(See CBR's post for Huntington)

I like to use a small (size 18 or 20) red blood worm or a grey RS2. And I always fish them deep. That particular hole we were fishing is about 3 or 4 feet deep.

Nice pics. Looks a little cool, but any fishing is better than no fishing at all!

That little stream is a real blast in the summer with dries! If you go up a little futher and turn off towards joes valley there is a little creek that runs the campground that I have caught some nice fish from as well.

The area has several great small streams to fish. Try rolfson creek on down into the left fork of huntington (trailhead is half way between cleveland and millers flat) Or there's some great fishing in lowery water all through upper joes valley down to the lake. And my personal favorite is seeley creek drainage from petes hole area all the way through to joes valley, however that one requirs young legs (rugged hike) However seeley is full of natural cuts and no hatchery raised fish, And you can land an occational large one there due to virtually no fishing pressure, (and it could use some) The last time I was there (7-8 years ago) The splake had come up into the deep holes through the rugged canyon and waterfall areas and were gorging themselves on the abundance of smaller cuts. The splake were getting quite large (avereage 18-20" and 2-3 lbs) I have been curious if they have destroyed the fishing for cuts, and if there are any real large ones waiting to be caught. My old knees won't allow me to make that hike anymore. Has anyone been through there in recent years? Just curious Lonnie
