I drove by yesterday and there was no signs of ice yet. The temps never did get above freezing for the whole day.

It's simple. Your own prior experience (mid-December last year), plus maaayyybe two extra weeks for "cushion" because it's been a bit warmer this year.
So anywhere from Dec 15 to Dec 31.
If that's not a tight enough range for ya, find out what current water temp is, factor in a weekly water temp decrease of what? 1 to 3 degrees? and see if that helps.
Whatever you come up with is not going to be more than two weeks off the mark.

Thanks for the info guys. I drove by Mantua today (just along the highway) and it looks like the edges might be icing up.
It won't be long...

Or another way of predicting hard water is to go back to prior year posts around the time of ice up (or Search), and adjust for current year conditions.

[cool]Or Derek, you can go to ksl.com and check out the forcast for next week for example. Gonna be down in the teens in SL Valley and I would think 5-10 degrees less than that at Mantua. Sounds like ice making to me. Mantua will have safe ice around the 15th or a couple days later...see ya up there...
