Saturday December 8th fishing invite
#1
"Wanted-young, skinny, wiry fellows, not over 20. Must be expert riders, and are willing to risk their lives for the job. Orphans preferred..."

Considering the forecast for Saturday, I figured the famous ad for the Pony Express riders might be appropriate for a fishing invite for this Saturday. I will probably regret it, but I am giving serious thought to fishing Scofield on Saturday. I have an Ice-Cube ice shack, so I am not too concerned about the snow while I am fishing, but the drive up and back could be ugly (I do have a four-wheel drive Suburban). If one or two guys are crazy enough to join me (plan on leaving SLC area at 5:00 AM and may get home late that evening) send me a PM. Warning, if the roads are too bad the trip may be cancelled at the last minute.

My cousin and I will probably go, but like you, we reserve the right to cancel at the last minute!

Are you going to Scofield or Huntington? If Scofield, whereabout? We might see you up there...

ya might want to rethink this one kent.. [sly] looks like a lot of snow out there right now! if it keeps going like it is, i'm not sure if they can even keep spanish fork canyon open let alone the road to scofield.. [unimpressed]

ether way it's going to be a slushy mess out there on the roads and on the lake.. be carefull and safe. [sly]

Change of plans. Billy and I will be headed first for the Utah Lake Utah State Park (in Provo) for some white bass action. If that doesn't work we will probably try somewhere else on Utah Lake. If you are in the area stop by and say hi.

Weather was great today up at Scofield. I almost canceled do to the weather, and I sure am glad I didn't. Only 26 degrees when we arrived. Sun came up over the mountains with no wind. Very enjoyable morning. I left by noon, and had a clean roads all the way home.

You really missed out on this one Kent! Jason and I made it up and enjoyed a great day on the ice. There were areas that had a few inches of slush but not enough to cause problems. The sun made its presence known and the fish were willing to play. Not a bad first day on the ice at all. Sorry you missed it!

I didn't totally miss it. I also fished Scofield today; however, I didn't drop a line until about 10:30 AM. We tried Provo Boat Harbor off of the docks, and then off of the north jetty and never even got a hit. Because the weather wasn't too bad we decided to head up to Scofield after all and see how bad the roads were. We first called 511 and got a road report and they reported spotty snow. The roads were great going up, except for some snow on the road after turning off of Hiway 6 and heading up to Scofield. The worst roads were when we came down the canyon from about Thistle on and I-15 was no fun. Despite the very late start we both managed to land about 20 rainbows with the largest going 18 inches. Sorry we weren't able to hook up with you.
