Lake Mead Sunday am.
#1
Sunday, 12/16/07- Hit the water early (5:30am.). Truck said the outside temp was 34 degrees. Cold run to the Las Vegas Wash. Little tough netting shad today. Ice formed on the front deck of the boat making it slick and tricky to toss a net from.

Ice on deck! First time this has every happened.

Shad on deck. Some hit the deck before making it into the live well.

After filling the live well, headed out to fish near Hole 33. Noticed birds going crazy near the shoreline. Moved in a started casting a swimbait. Hooked a couple of nice three pounders! Continued to work the points and coves until action slowed.

Started drifting the Hole 33 area with live shad.

Live bait striper.

Smooth as glass on the return to the marina. What an interesting day on the water.

P.S. Poor quality pictures taken with cell phone because I can't find the camera!

Nice! My pard, Don, took the ice chest home so I don't really know what our total was. I caught a couple of three pounders early on swimbait and four or five smaller stripers on live shad. Don did a little better than I did. Not a bad day considering the cold start.Hope the shad stick around for another couple of weekends.[cool]

That's a trip. I've been out there when it was 30 degrees, and I've never seen ice like that. Did the ice form as you were cruising on the water or were you at a standstill?

Best regards,

Paul

Water gets on the deck when you pull the cast net in. Froze pretty good, forcing us off the deck. As soon as the sun came up it melted fast, and we resumed our search for shad. I've never had this happen before.
