sea foam
#1
I have heard about Sea Foam and am wondering how much I would add to a gallon of gas/oil for my Strikemaster lazer. I couldn't find any thing that would tell me how much to add. Also, Sea Foam acts as a stabilizer , so I wouldn't have to add any stabilizer to my fuel mixture. Is this correct? thanks for the help

I'm not real sure, but I think the sea foam is the stuff you spray in the carb. while the motor is running before you stow your boat away for the winter. later chuck

[cool][#0000ff]There are directions on the can (in small print). As I recall they suggest an ounce per gallon of gas for two cycle engines. This serves both to help keep the engine cleaner and also as a gas stabilizer. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If your motor is running rough, because of a fouled carburetor, you might need to double the dose for the first shot. Treat a small amount of gas/oil mix in the auger's gas tank, start it up and let it run a few minutes. Then, shut it off and let it set awhile. Hopefully the Sea Foam will loosen some of the gunk and start the cleaning process.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If your motor is really fouled, or if it has been awhile since you tuned it up, you should put in a carburetor kit and replace the plug. Good idea to clean or replace the plug yearly.[/#0000ff]

I use thie stuff on my truck all the time, oil and gas, it's a very good product. I believe TD is right about hte ratio for smaller engines. Doubling it won't hurt a thing.

Checker Auto selss it. Look in the gas additive section. It works great.

Yep, Checker. I only use it in my oil right(like 15 minutes)before an oil change. Thins out the oil and gets rid of build up.

just dump some in the gallon container, a couple of gulps - doesnt have to be a perfect ounce as this is a mineral based product and you arent thinning the lubrication value per se.

I use the crap out of this junk on an old outboard I acquired - a can to a gallon and that thing smoked like you wouldnt believe - all old carbon build up. It used to be pretty reasonable, now it seems like it $8 a 16oz can. Still the best additive that I have used and still use as maintenance on a newer outboard and the cars and lawn equipment.

I think the most damage a person could do with this stuff is to make the fuel non combustible and that would take more than a can worth. They also make a product called deep creep that you can crank right into the cylinders and the carb if you get alot of fouling/buildup.

Everyone should be using this in 2 stoke engines regularly as both maintenance and as a carbon blaster - just my opinion and experience.
