It was a great day to be ice fishing at Deer Creek today. No slush monster, overcasted but bright, and no WIND!! We started to remove coats about 10:00am and did get some sunburn on the face.
Oh, to the fishing. We fished at the west end of the island in about 22 feet of water. Drop a line in the first hole. As I was dropping a line in the 2nd hole I got a bite at the first one. Finished dropping the line in the 2nd hole and reeled in 10 incher bow on the 1st pole. Didn't even get the fish out of the water and the 2nd pole went crazy. As I grab the 2nd pole my son released the first fish. But now the fight was on. The 2nd pole was taking out drag. It took a couple of minutes but I did ice a nice fat 19 inch rainbow. It took a white foxy jig tipped with meal worm.
We did manage to catch about 12 other fish through out the day in 10-12 inch range.
Only kept the 19 incher and had it for dinner tonight, as shown in the pics.
