Flaming Gorge report

Finally got the chance to go fish FG last weekend and break in the new Macum LX5 flasher. Started fishing for burbot about 9:00 pm saturday night out at Lost Dog and landed 3 pup lakers instead. So we walked across the chanel to steeper/rockier area and finally caught two burbot on glow jigs tiped with shrimp. It was very slow. I was expecting it to be a lot faster. They must not feed to well that early in the morning. Next time I want to be on the lake around 5:00 pm instead of 9:00 pm.

Just before sunrise we made the move to try or luck fishing for pups just outside of Buckboard. I was the only one out of eight to have any luck there. Landing 3 more, I have to give the new flasher a lot of the credit. It is now a must and so much better than fishing with graph style fish finders.

Thanks for the report, we are heading up this weekend. How was the ice? Do we need to worry about the edges going soft yet? I havent had the opportunity to catch the burbout yet so i'm pretty excited, i just hope we can find them. How about SLUSH any worries there? We are going to have a 4 wheeler and i'm wondering if i dont want to bring the sled instead.

The Ice between Buckboard and Lost Dog is at least 16 inches and no slush. Edges are still hard. Maybe 3 to 4 inches of snow in some places. I would definitely take a 4 wheeler or a snowmobile if I had one. Others up there had them. The roads may be a little muddy during the day and freeze at night. Hope this helps.

There are a few good reports on the wyoming board from last weekend. It's too bad you did not do any better. Sounds like some of the guys did good in the same area of Lost dog. They were fishing fairly deep, how deep did you fish? WH2
