Polorized Glasses
#1
Was wondering where can I buy a good pair of glasses without spending alot of money. I've had the expensive ones and my stomach hurts every time I lose or break them.

You get what you pay for. I got some of the cheap ones at WalMart and at convenience stores and they are....well....cheap...in more ways than price. They say polarized, but I'm not so sure.

The only pair I have ever bought was from Wally World and they worked good for what I paid($9). They do scratch easily but they are better than regular sun glasses[cool]. WH2

Sportsmans usually has some fairly good ones for a decent price. The same goes for Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops or Tackle Warehouse, wherever you order you're tackle from.

this is a link to the Cabelas branded line of polarized eye wear. I uuse the 19SLK for three years now, they even have some straps with floats on em for a few bucks some place that help with water retrievals when needed. I paid 20 bucks for them, and I will again after finally beating em up for 3 years i need a new pair. they have a few new models this year too one of which looks pretty similar to the 19SLk model I may try them out. course with a location in Lehi now, i will probably go try em all on again and see which ones fit best.

My wife wears the water dog model. I got her polarized glasses for her sensitivity to brightness. she gets migranes and such when I finally got her to put on a pair of polarized glasses, she wont buy anything else now. she always asks "are they polarized". personally i think even the cheap polarized glasses provide better protection than an ordinary pair of glasses because of the polarization factor. Ill give you a tip too, get a bronze or yellowed lens color, they work just as good in the sunshine, but they will be be more functional on the over cast days, AND you can wear em when you drive in the rain and such to cut glare and all that. [Wink]

Good luck, I would go to Cabelas if I were you.

Thanks for the info. Fished the weber friday, and bought a cheap pair at the gas station. Better than nothing, but I definitely need some thing better.

[black]Polaroid glasses are benefit to anyone who fishes, or spends time on the water.[/black]

As far as costs go, it's a matter of preference. A good pair of glass lenses are better for your eyes than plastic ones that may have a distorted in them, and give you a head ache or bother your eyes. But if you're only going to wear them once in a while, it's hard to justify expensive lenses.

Granted, your eyes are important, and how you treat them is up to the individual. It's mostly a matter of economics, common sense, and amount of usage. Pretty hard to justify a 2-3 hundred dollar pair of designer glasses to wear a few hours a month.

I got a pair of these from Wally world in Layton for $20. I don't know how good the polarization is since I haven't tried them for that, but they're pretty cool. They also come with an extra pair of lenses.

Watch the ad's. Memorial weekend, Labor day weekend- just before and after Christmas sales- there are a few Sproting goods stores that put them on sale. I know every year I buy Smith's , about 4 a year and give a couple for presents- get them for $19.99- reg. $79 to 129.00 depending on model. Love them.

keep an eye on steepandcheap.com and whiskeymilitia.com. These sites put one item at a time up until it sells out and then puts a new one up. Most deals get you at least 50% off! I've bought $150 polarized sunglasses for $35! In fact I now have about 4 pairs of really nice polarized sunglasses. I have no affiliation with either site, but I am addicted to them![sly]
