Not to get everyone to excited, but .... the big shallow pond is starting to break up ( Utah Lake that is). It has been looking real peaked lately, pretty gray and mushy looking. Decided to drive by on the way home today and here is the scouting report.
Lindon harbor is totally ice free, as is a pretty big swath of the lake from the habor, north to just south of American Fork harbor. There are piles of ice on the shore around AF Harbor and the mouth is mostly ice free.
I will check Provo Boat harbor tomorrow, but I suspect that if the wind continues as it is, there will be large piles of ice on the North Dike and a pretty big patch of clear water off the south where the river runs in.
Will have to air up the Toon and check it all out Saturday. Let it Blow, Let it Blow, Let it Blow.
PS: Traditionally, Utah Lake blows off by March 17, so this is pretty early after a full ice cap and really cold winter temps.
