Got up at 430 and headed to the marina..Arrived very early and it was very foggy and cold..Loaded the sled and hooked the dog up (Lab)and headed for the campsites on the west side. Walked about a mile on the sled tracks. Not really knowing where to go...dark and foggy at 615 am...I got up too early..anyway I walked off the beaten path for about 50 yards and drilled my first hole by hand...40ft.too deep I thought...so I set up a pole and headed back towards the sled tracks and drilled another hole ..48 ft..wrong way...Exhausted I went back to the first hole and had a fish on...and from that time until 930 I iced 30 fish..all between 18-21.5 inches..by the time I left I had caught 40 fish and laughing so hard ...I have never caught that many in 1 day at any time. They would either hit on the jig on the way down or right as it hit the bottom.
I swear I was catching the same ones over and over again...
The dog had a great time and pulled the sled back at 1130 and even pulled it back up the ramp..why didn't I think of taking the dog sooner????

good report... I love taking my dog fishing.... she is scared to death of the fish... she is scared to death of everything even though she is a 80 pound lab...

We arrived at the berry this morning at 7:15 Am to total fog conditions. We took the sleds out along the East side. Snow came in around 10 Am and got progressively worse until we left around 4 PM. On the way back, we experienced total white out conditions. Luckily we almost literally bumped into a friendly fisherman sledder that had just came from our parking lot and had the waypoint on his GPS. I was using my GPS to get back, but didn't have the exact location of the parking area. He also helped guide us back to the parking lot area and helped dig out one of our sleds that went up the wrong hill during the total white out. ( Don't know his name, but if he is a BFT member, I would like to thank him again for his kind generosity).
We had a good day overall! Fishing was fast and furious in the morning hours, then slowed as usually around 11 AM. Last week we landed some really big cutts, but nothing over the slot today.
Snow conditions were good for snowmobiles, but not for 4 wheelers. Power Auger was all the way to the bottom before breaking through ( 24" snow and frozen slush, then 12" of solid ice). Given the amount of slightly frozen slush on the top of the ice ioday, once it warms-up just a little bit, the slush monster will rule the lake until ice off.
This was our last trip on the hard deck this season. Can't wait for ice off!!!

I think do to the forecast of bad weather, people stayed home..it wasn't busy at all. I was using a green tube jig with black speckles tipped with a wax worm. I went through an entire box of 36 in just 2 hours. I changed jigs to another green glow, and had the same success, the wax worm was the key. Whenever they would eat the wax worm off, nothing, that's how I could tell I needed to restock the jig. My lab is around 75 pounds as well and knows the HEAL
command and would walk right by my side.

Way to go Craig!
That area has produced some good catching and usually continues into the soft water spring time fishing.
Wish I would of went with ya but decided to take care of some yard work and things around the house.

Way to go Craig. We should have followed you to our honey hole area. We headed out at 6:30 AM to only end up getting lost in that thick fog. We finally had to wait for the sun to burn off the fog and we finally got to the planned destination at 9:00 AM. Fishing was red hot for about an hour (sure wish we could have gotten there about 3 hours earlier).

I went to the same spot we did a couple of weeks ago, however when the fog lifted I was some 150 yards further south than we were. If we looked at the camping grounds last time, we were in the middle of them, this time I was passed them a little....where were you?

We fished Strawberry on Saturday also. We were at the Ladders, in 32 feet of water, and it was slower than it has been in a long time for us. We got a late start and the fishing got slower as the morning went on instead of picking up as it has been doing. We ended up catching 20 fish total, between the 3 of us. None over the slot and no Rainbows. Glad we had the ice shack as it was toasty warm in there all day. It was frustrating because first of all, the fish numbers were not there like they usually are, and secondly, when fish did come around (as seen on the fishfinder and/or fish camera), they wouldn't give our lures the time of day. We usually just got the big snub. Was an extremely frustrating day for us, and I think our ice fishing is over for the year. In fact, instead of putting all my ice fishing gear in the house garage, I put it all out in the back garage where it is stored for the summer.
My first boat trip is 3 weeks out at Lake Powell and we are now 100% gearing up towards that trip. We bought a new boat this year so we have a lot of unwinterizing and familiarizing to do between now and then.

I fished strawberry on the 8th and caught some good fish and my fishing buddy went this last saturday the 15th and caught twice as many as i did. Does anyone think the ice will still be good enough to hike out on this saturday or is it going to be to warm?
