Piute Reservoir 3/25
#1
I arrived at Piute Reservoir at 8:00 a.m. and fished until 2:00 p.m. Caught 12 to 15 rainbows that varied between 16-inches (< 2lbs) to 19-inches (maybe 3 lbs) trolling varies lures. Tried both long lining and down riggers. Caught all fish within 10 of the surface on the cheaters, never caught anything at depth. Fish were located all through the column from 40 feet to the surface.

Did not catch anything on Rapalas, RMT or my own hand tie bugs. Caught the most on cripple lures (rainbow) and Daredevils (G. brown).

I launch the boat with white caps on the reservoir and they remained all day - I hate the wind. It was nice to get the boat out of mothballs and have it fire over on the first trip this season.

Had to buy diesel in Fillmore to get home. Paid $4.26 - that sucks. I am afraid the price of Fuel is going to cramp my fishing this year.

Sounds like a great day. To bad about the fuel costs though.

I would think that it would be faster to take highway 89 from nephi south, you dont have to deal with clear creek canyon or scipio hill. Plus you stay closer to cheaper fuel

You may be right. When I looked on the map, it appeared Hwy 89 might be shorter; however, I-15 appeared faster. I don't know, I probably did go the wrong way.

I think if I were to go this far south again, I would go to Otter Creek. We caught a little nicer fish through the ice this winter!

I am headed there this weekend myself, hoping to hit O.C and piute in the same trip. Good to hear the fish are still availble to trollers, we caught a good one 2weeks ago on criplures...
