I talked to a guy last year that saw a grizz sow and two cubs in the Unitas, I guess they are no different than wolves as far as how far they will move but the one in your picture looks like a big one. I wonder what part of the state it was hit? For some reason I always thought there were grizz in all the states that border Yellowstone[:/].

I have a home in Island Park, Idaho. There are a lot of grizzlies in Idaho. We are in the process of passing local laws against not bear proofing your campsite or home because of the increase in bears. Last year a few had to be destroyed that came into contact with campers food. Every year we see black bears while on the hunt and throughout the summer, but over the last few years the amount of grizzlies has really increased. Last year I had several grizzlie sightings and only two black bear sightings. It wouldn't surprise me to see them moving towards the Uintas. The wolves are here too.

I grew up in soda springs, Idaho.....
and they said there were no wolverenes in southern I daho. That they did not live that far south in the states.
Well one snowy evening, driving from montpelier to soda I was sure I saw a wolverene walking on the side of the highway. It was dark and I went by it aound 50 miles and hour, and my father saw it as he was with me, but he questioned my insanity, and then passed it off as a dog or a bear or something.
Years later, there was a wolverene killed on the highway near pocatello.
I stand by my 20/20 vision at that time that I saw a wolverene.
So,,,,,,,,,,,,for grizz to be in Idaho.....not even a thought....they are there for sure.

Do you know on what area or highway this bear was hit?

I will second all the reply's opinions. There have been confirmed accounts and official studies that show grizzlies are moving all around Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. There is lots of great land for them to live on. I am also aware of many Utah grizzly sightings. It would not surprise me for an instant that they could be in the Uintas or the Northern Wasatch Mountains.

Is this the same bear?? Hmmmmmm....
It was in Montana. Sure looks like the same truck. Different angle of photo shows it in proper perspective.

I got an email from a friend not long ago with photos and a letter showing a mountain lion taking down a nice bull elk outside West Yellowstone. I shared it with some friends. Found out my friend received it from a friend with false info. Happens alot. Don't feel like you were accused of anything please. I am actually glad you shared. Regardless of where it happened, it was great reading. Thanks. [Smile]

There are some Grizzly in Idaho for sure. If you read the hunting regulations in Idaho they state that Grizzly may be found in a couple areas. In the panhandle, they may be found in area one and also those areas of the bitterroot forest bordering Montana. They can also be found in a couple areas in the South.
