Yuba
#1
Fished from 5:30 am until 1 pm, one Pike 20''. graphed tons of fish that didn't want to play. Threw the tackle box at them . Good fishing, non exsistent catching. A beautiful day. Water is up and murky. Went too where the river comes in and fish where all over but not ready too play. A few more weeks of hot weather and a hell will break loose. Did see a real big Pike cruising, probably in the 40'' range, he didn't want to play. Nansea caught a Carp trolling unbelievable, on a blue and silver rattle trap.

Runs great, even trolling with such a big boat 22' it trolls as slow as.5 on the GPS. Let us know when you would like to go with us. We are taking some kids out on free fishing day and after that the onslaught of fishing shall begin.

At least the trip wasn't a bust, you caught one. Fishound & I were thinking about going down yesterday, but thought better because of the tournament there. Instead, we went to "the Straw". Fishound will post on it later today. I guess I was extra lucky last Saturday to catch that big Eye. Especially since it was my first time fishing for eye, & the first one caught.

Walleyes can be tough fish to catch, I think right now its the watr temps that are low. Needs to warm up and they will be active. There sure are alot of Perch to feed on.

That is going to be the problem at Yuba this year. There will be millions of perch fry for the walleyes and pike to feed on. That will be hard to compete with.

You are allowed to use perch meat as bait at Yuba, maybe it would be wise to troll a sliver on the back hook of a crawler harness, or even a nice fillet spanning both hooks.
We are allowed to use Pech meat for bait at Yuba, it is not limited to a 1" chunk as some waters are.
I am deeply Saddened by the price of gas and how it is going to effect my fishing. I'm afraid I may only get to Yuba once this year, maybe twice. 100 miles each way to Painted Rocks is over $50 pulling the boat. North end of UT lake is $12.

Too many perch in Yuba?? That is like saying too many shad in Powell. There will never be enough....

Makes for tougher fishing when they have what they want already. I understand what you are saying but it could be a tough year at Yuba.

Same, same. The fishing at Yuba for pike and walleye will be tough , until the crash. Then for 1 year Walleye will be caught by all. Then years of recovery.

no it's not like to many shad in lake Powell!

the shad do not eat the other fish like perch do.. and some of the perch in there are big enugh to eat 3 to 5 inch perch.

the more perch that eat there own fry leves less for the other fish to eat..
