Tiger trout at East Canyon

Tuna Hooker and I were at EC yesterday afternoon fishing for bass and each picked up a tiger trout in the process. I knew that the DWR has been planting small ones in there for a few years, but had never heard of anyone catching them. It made me wonder how commen or uncommen they are in there? Both fish looked healthy, and were about half a pound apart (1lb & 1 1/2 lb), and were released. I hope they do as well in there as they've done at Scofield..... thay're alot of fun and quite aggressive [] Fred K.

Thanks for posting your report and yes there have many reports this year from folks catching tiger trout from EC. During ice fishing season the tiger reports were not plentiful but a few guys caught them. Did you guys catch any bass? WH2

Thats got to be one of the first reports of someone catching a Tiger trout in East Canyon. At least now we know that they are in there. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for your input guys! If someone can shrink a pic for me, I'll insert it into this thread. So its sounds as if the tigers at EC are uncommen at the moment? I was quite suprized when TH got the first one, and then a few minutes later I got one out of the same spot. The bass fishing was pretty decent. We didn't get any with any real size. All came on a drop shot..... they wouldn't touch anything else we tried. They seemed to be very grouped up too. We tried several of my favorite spots, and only two of them produced fish, but they produced multiple fish. I ended the day with the one tiger trout, and eight smallies. TH ended up with four smallies, two rainbows, one tiger, and one nice 3 1/2lb brown trout. Everything was released to fight another day. [] Fred K.
