My friend Greg called me and said its time to hit pineview. Now he has a boat, and I accepted the invtie.(not really....was jumping up and down[cool]). Monday, on the water shortly after 7:00am, with no wind and water temp 62 degrees.
Now the first question everyone has is.. where did you fish?
I don't know all of the bays names, but we worked from cemetary point every cove on the north west side. Yes, we had a long day, and did not leave until shortly before 8:00pm.
By noon we had only boated/hooked and lost 4 smallies and one tiger around 28". We had follows that made the heart beat faster, but no agressive takers.
We had by then figured where the "tigers" lurked in the forest of willows, so we waited for afternoon/evening to approach.
Long story until now.....but this is when the fast action picked up.
We ended up hooking/losing/landing/breaking off eight of the beautiful fantastic arobatic tigers.
We took them on crankbaits/spinner baits/ and buzz baits. Two monsters, one which we did see as he put on a spectacular airial display ,are wearing jewlery or I guess now days you would call it a nose ring. But when they got in the willows and we did the see saw a few times..... the line wore thin and broke.
When my friend does download the pics I will get them on the board here.
We also helped a float tuber by landing a tiger that was towing him around. It measured 37" and was a good looking fish.
But.....what a rush.....and to feel the power(and the helpless feeling) of "I've got a tiger by the tail"......now I know why that song was made[]
And for the flyfishermen that read this.....yep I put in two hours of throwing minnow patterns....and got one smallie for my efforts.
