The prowler is here

Hi!

I started a new thread to try and give a review of the outcast prowler that just arrived. I havent had it on the water yet, but will give my first impressions. Keep in mind I have limited experience with float tubes and pontoons in general. I'll try to tell it like it is.

First Impressions:
Darn its Heavy for a float tube
Darn its big for a float tube
Looks like a high quality, well built boat.
Lots of room for storage.
Side pockets are BIG (pic does not do them justice)
That Apron thingy seems useless.whats it for?

Hydration Bladder (holds about 2 litres)


Back View (medium size plano soft box and room for more..good size)..But why is there a hole back there...water will get in..


Side pockets...a good size


Striping Apron (I really dont like it. It seems flimsy. Not sure what its good for...for a quick measure anyway.)


Bottom of boat..almost as tall as I am

I'm hoping to get it out on the water next week..we'll see what happens.

The apron is usually "A stripping Apron" which if you don't fly fish, I agree it would be useless, except for measuring a fish, a table sort of for lure and things.
And it is a FLOAT TUBE, everything in it will get wet, so yes the hole in the back is a drain. You want to keep things dry, you will need a pontoon, and there is still a few out there that are about 6' long, prpbably not much longer than the Prowler.

But, you got it, so get some dry bags, waders and flippers and go catch some fish![fishon]

Looks like a dang nice ride!

The back section is not dry storage. The holes are drain holes...it will get wet in there.

Looking forward to a review of the maiden voyage....No matter what anyone says......from what I have see -- that particular ride is the Cadillac of float tubes....I think the high dollars for it is the only reason you do not see more of them on the water.

Nice lookin boat, look forward to hearing how she does on the water. just some words of caution on the hydration system. Remember what goes in must come out. Some is sweat and well we know what the other thing is. Which is not an issue if you are wet wading, however if you are in waders that means a trip to shore to off load. I have found if I hydrate really well the night before and take a small water bottle or 2 out with me I am usually set for the day.

I have one of those Hydration packs also. My advise is, once you take a slug, blow the water in the tube back. Otherwise it stays there and gets real warm. Plus any time you SUCK on a Hydration or even the water bottles with the pop top, you are taking in allot of air. So burping gets put into the equation.[cool]
I am with Majja, I just take a water bottle. Plus I have a mesh bag I can put a couple in, and hang it over the side so it does stay cooler.

I agree also with the reason you don't see more Prowlers is the Price. Even to me they seem pricie, BUT HEAY! it could be the Hydration pack[laugh]

Cadillac, okay I see that, but that means the H3 is a HUMMER![fishon]

I agree on the hydration the night before.. the problem I keep running into is that I tend to hydrate and fill up on cold beer and nachos grande.. :-)

Hey Hoptalites are just as important as electrolites. And with the Nachos that is just assuring you will be able to get back to shore under an alternative means of propolsions if needed.

Good point on the hose FG. I also put mine in the lake where it is a little cooler.

Pontoons are the only way to go it you want to drink allot (ask Poky-mon)
I have never tried it, but his wife has even been able to relieve herself while out in the middle of a lake.
I have one of the strongest bladder around, but have on occasion scooted to shore for relief.
If it is really hot, I drink all I want and I am fine. Guess sweat has something to do with it, but I don't sweat that much. I think I just burn it off.

Mac I would say your are doing it right.

Joni I am with you if it is hot I can drink plenty. There have been a few times when bed the night before a trip was not nearly early enough so the rest was more of a long nap. On those morning I am a 44oz mt dew on the drive, cause I am to lazy to make coffee and Starbucks isnt open yet.

I always have a mug of sweet iced tea in the truck with me.. and like you if I am having a hard time getting the motors running I stop and get a cup of coffee.. but not a red bull latte.. [sly]
