Welcome aboard and thanks for taking the time to register.

Skate Creek can run fast at times. When fishing the heavy currant times, you will need more weight. Use only what you need to keep control of your bait.

Sometimes it is better to go lighter. Cast upstream and let your line drift. Allow it to flow into the eddys or lower current areas where the fish will be more likely to be hanging out.

Bright, shiny spinners work good also during fast and slow current conditions.

Feel free to ask any more questions if you have them.[cool]

SNOW!?!?! It's June!!!

I use a 5'6" medium light rod and a 2000 series spinning reel for stream fishing and I do nothing but drift with it. I could have went with a smaller capacity reel, but other than that, I think my set-up is perfect for me. 5'6" is short enough to maneauver around the shorline (shrubs, trees, etc.), but long enough to cast to the opposite bank. I use 8# Stren Magnathin line and usually a leader of 4# Maxima Chameleon.
