]I bought a minnow trap today, Im fishing Scofield Saturday. How do you catch minnows? Is dry dog food good bait. What depth, cover, shady or sunny spot?? ANy info will help.

Cracker crumbs worked great for me at Strawberry, I am not sure about the dog food, might attract crawdads, which seem to scare off the minnows.

Plain white bread smashed into a ball works well. As for where to put the trap depends on where the minnows are for the day. If you can see any put it there. If not keep putting it farther out until you find them by where you want to fish.

this late in the year i'll have a hard time getting any minnows out of scofield! or E-lake.. a cast net would be better right now.. but form what i have been hearing the minnows have moved out and are not getting traped to much right now..
best time is in the spring time to trap minnows.. well shiner minnows at lest.. [signature]

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll make one of them 2 liter traps. On a side note hit Scofield early this mourning, with about half the state. [
