crawdad cove
#1
Hello all I went to crawdad cove friday after work around 3 pm I I tossed a castaic swim bait for a bit then I saw a bunch of trout pretty shallow I left all my trout stuff at home for some odd reason so I found a small cast master in my tackle box and began hooking some trout that was fun then I went back to tossing the swim bait till I couldnt feel my arms I know this was a new trout stocking spot so I kinda figured there wouldnt be many stripers .Also for those launching kayaks or float tubes it would be a easy spot to do so I parked close to the water .

I hit up crawdad on Saturday with the wife and kid. We brought the kayaks out in the afternoon for a paddle and a bit of fishing. The weather was great. The road to crawdad is pretty solid, but we did get the pick-up stuck in some soft sand on our way out. Had a guy pull us out. He was very nice. Watch out for that. That's always a pain in the ass. I threw around my swimbait for a while for nothin', but didn't get to spend too much time fishing. It is definitely a good spot for kayak launching.

[cool]Hey borndead, I was at crawdad about 12:30pm and got my limit of trout. You are right about the launch for floattubes as I was parked by the water at the point. Can't wait til the stripers find out about it. I tried a swimbait and some shad imitators for nada.

How do you get down to Crawdad Cove? I am seriously jonesing to get some fishing in and have to find an easy access for my float tube. I just had knee surgery so long walks are out of the question. I still haev not quite figured out Mead fishing so help would be appreciated. Thanks all.

[cool]Hey bmitchell, the directions are on the NDOW website under fishing. The turn off is at mile marker #9 on North Shore Road( going to Calville). Follow the signs at the first fork. When the road widens at the lake, the road forks again. Take the left fork that goes up the hill. This will take you to the point that they dump the trout on. You can launch on either side of the point, about a twenty yard walk.
