Tube dude made a nice list of tubes here:

I am not familiar with the tube you have other than it is 420 denier cover.
The Fish Cat is 600 if I read that right.
The material and the stitching is very important.
If you could come up with the extra cash, I would go with the Fish Cat specially being a newbie.
If something were to happen, it could ruin it forever for you getting into a tube again.

However, as you said, the tube did get good reviews. If you decide to keep it, just be sure to take a few precautions such as don't go alone and wear a floatation devise (which is a law in most states that you have one.

I had a real cheap "U" boat along time ago and I had a blast in it. When it decided to explode, it was on land.
Just don't over fill, specially in hot weather or higher altitudes.

[cool][#0000ff]The White River craft are "not bad" and are fairly priced for what you get. However, the Fish Cat or the ODC 420 would probably make you happier if you could try them all and make a decision.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Two construction points to consider. 1. The White River has a front "stabilizer bar" to keep the two front ends from pulling together when you sit down. These can be a pain. 2. You sit much lower in the water in the White River than with the other two craft suggested. Thw WR has a "sling" seat whereas the others have high density foam seats that keep you sitting much higher out of the water. The higher seating is better for casting and fishing and also better in cold water conditions.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you are looking at a few dollars difference, factor that against how many times you plan to use your tube over the next five years. Then, divide the extra money by the number of trips and see how much per trip extra it will be. My guess is that you will find it not worth quibling over. Probably less than the cost of a lost lure.[/#0000ff]
